Honda Project Drive-In Update: Winners and What You Can Do

October 2nd, 2013 by

In an August post, we brought to light the Honda’s spectacular sponsorship known as Project Drive-In. Over 100 drive-ins run the risk of closure due to insufficient funds for the digital projectors required by the end of the year, and this charitable project is meant hopefully save as many drive-in theaters from that dark fate.

Well, we have an update from that post; which five lucky drive-in theaters received the most public votes for saving–and by saving, we mean Honda will provide the equipment for those theaters. We have the winners, and they range across the nation:

      1. Saco Drive-In (Saco, ME)
      2. Cherry Bowl Drive-In (Honor, MI)
      3. McHenry Drive-In (McHenry, IL)
      4. 99W Drive-In (Newberg, Oregon)
      5. Graham Drive-In (Graham, Texas)

The good news doesn’t end there. Honda was also able to help an additional four theaters with digital projectors:

  • Monetta Drive-In (Monetta, South Carolina)
  • Ocala Drive-In (Ocala, Florida)
  • Starlite Drive-In (Cadet, Missouri
  • Stateline Drive-In (Elizabethon, Tennessee)

“It’s not often that a company gets the opportunity to help preserve an American pastime,” explains Alicia Jones, Manager of Honda & Acura social marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “It has been an honor and a privilege to bring national and local attention to the fate of drive-ins and t meet the passionate owners of these small businesses.”1

The year’s not over, and there’s still time to help other theaters. According to, you can contribute, pledge to visit one of these theaters, and download materials such as flyers, Facebook profile and cover photos to get the word out.

If we hear of more theaters that Honda is able to save, you can be certain we’ll cover it here. In the meantime, if you’d like to take a look at the new Honda vehicles the brand offers, the doors here at Paragon Honda are open for you. We’re located in Woodside, NY, so if you’re in the area, stop by and we’d be happy to help you!
